UEFA Women's Champions League Qualifiers in Katowice

Europe is coming back to Bukowa! The women's team of GKS Katowice will make their debut in European competitions. The UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying tournament will be held in Katowice on September 6th and 9th.

Thanks to the historic success of winning the Polish championship in the 2022/2023 season, GKS Katowice has earned the opportunity to debut in international competitions. The draw for the first qualifying round of the 2023/2024 UEFA Women's Champions League took place in Nyon, Switzerland, with GKS Katowice representing Poland.

As a result of the draw, GKS found themselves in Group 5. In the semifinals, GKS will face the team RSC Anderlecht from Belgium, and in the next phase of the tournament, they could play against the Norwegian SK Brann or the Bulgarian Lokomotiv Stara Zagora. After the draw ceremony for the 1st qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League, it was determined that GKS Katowice would be the host of the matches in Group 5. Therefore, Stadion Miejski in Katowice will once again be a witness to the sporting battles of GKS athletes in European competitions, this time in women's football.

- The group is strong for sure. Our opponents have already competed in the UEFA Champions League, while it will be our debut, so we definitely have a tough task ahead. We want to be as well-prepared as possible for this competition. I hope the fans will support us because the UEFA Champions League in Katowice is a big event. This aura can add additional stress for the players, but I believe it will have a positive character and in crucial moments, the support from the stands will uplift the players - said Karolina Koch, the coach of the Polish champions, before the tournament in Katowice.

The Champions of Poland started the new season of the Orlen Ekstraliga kobiet in good style, demonstrating that they are currently in excellent form and they will aim to showcase it during the upcoming match against the Belgian champions.

The semifinal matches will take place on Wednesday, September 6th, at the Stadion Miejski in Katowice (ul. Bukowa 1A). At 2:00 PM, the Norwegian champions SK Brann will face the Bulgarian Lokomotiv Stara Zagora. Then, at 8:00 PM, GKS will play against the team RSC Anderlecht.

There are also available VIP tickets for 200 PLN. Children under the age of 13 can enter the match with a free ticket obtained through the GKS Ticket System.

We also want to inform you that all matches of the UWCL qualifying tournament in Katowice will be available to watch for free on the GKS Katowice club's TV channel, GieKSa TV.

Tickets can be purchased on the website bilety.gkskatowice.eu. Tickets are also available in person at the Regional Tourist Information Center (Katowice, Rynek 13) and at the Official GKS Katowice Store (Katowice, Bukowa 1A). On the day of the match, tickets will be available at the Stadion Miejski's ticket offices.

It should be noted that the decisive matches of the tournament will be played on Saturday, September 9th. The match for 3rd place will take place at 2:00 PM, and the grand final will start at 8:00 PM. The winner of the tournament will secure their place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League. Tickets for these matches will be available for purchase after the semifinal results are determined.
